About me
Associate Professor George Larcos is a Nuclear Medicine Physician with over 30 years’ experience, based in Wollongong, NSW. Associate Professor Larcos completed his medical training at The University of Sydney and Nuclear Medicine training at St George and Westmead Hospitals in Sydney.
He gained further experience in Nuclear Medicine by undertaking a Nuclear Medicine Fellowship at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, USA. He has previous experience as a Staff Specialist in Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound at Westmead Hospital, as well as experience in non-metropolitan areas of private practice. He has had leadership experience with the Australian Association of Nuclear Medicine Specialists (AANMS) & Australian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) and has also worked as the nuclear medicine expert with the NSW Radiation Advisory Council.
More recently, Associate Professor Larcos has collaborated with The Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) to revise diagnostic reference levels (DRL) in nuclear medicine and PET. He has published over 80 peer-reviewed, medical journals with an h-index of >20 and continues to have a broad interest in research.
His PhD focused on radiation incidents in nuclear medicine, patient safety and quality improvement.
